Haiti - Justice : Jean Claude Duvalier convened today at the Palace of Justice

Despite his house arrest, Jean-Claude Duvalier moves freely in the country: speeches in front of law graduates to the Gonaïves, walk on the beach, participation to the commemorative ceremonies of January 12, 2010 where he was seen in conversation with President Michel Martelly and former President Bill Clinton... etc...

Faced with these repeated violations, the Judge Jean Carves, as convened the former President Duvalier at the Palace of Justice in his office on Friday 20 January at 11:05am to remind the former dictator that he is under house arrest and that he is forbidden to leave the capital without prior notice to the judicial authorities and obtained an authorization "Jean-Claude Duvalier must come to my office at 11:05am on Friday. If he does not show, he will be arrested at 11:10am," threatened the Judge Jean Carves.

Me Reynold Georges, the lawyer of Jean-Claude Duvalier, however declared in response to this convocation, that his client had broken no law, since there is no such law in the Haitian legislation [house arrest] "This law is imaginary," "stated Me George in a telephone interview with The Associated Press on Thursday "The judge can do whatever he wants, but he will have to pay the consequences."

Justice seems silent, despite numerous complaints against Jean Claude Duvalier, and Amnesty International protests against the inertia of the Haitian justice system, which brought until now, no charges against Baby Doc, noting that the many change of Government Commissioners, whose decision on the progress of the investigation on Jean-Claude Duvalier are decisive, have significantly slowed the investigation.

For his part, the Judge Jean Carves, which investigates complaints against Duvalier would shortly present its closing order "He will soon learn his fate," declared the investigating judge.
