Haiti - Internships : Launch of the Youth Employment Initiation Program in the Private Sector

On Friday, May 15, 2026, at the Ritz Kinam Hotel, during the official launch ceremony of the "Youth Employment Initiation Program" (PIJE) in the private business sector, Dr. Jean Denis Saint-Felix S.J. (Society of Jesus), Dean of the Faculty of Economic, Social, and Political Sciences at Notre Dame University of Haiti (FSESP-UNDH), expressed his gratitude for the program and hoped that the government would continue its implementation sustainably to allow more young people to benefit.

It should be noted that the PIJE targets recent graduates from universities and vocational schools (public and private) throughout the country to undertake short-term (3-month) internships paid by the State (Public Treasury) in the public or private sector, in order to acquire practical skills. It allows these young graduates to enter the job market, gain practical experience, and actively participate in the country's economic and social activities.

It should be noted that for each cohort, the Ministry of Economy and Finance contacts universities progressively, requesting that they nominate students based on academic performance and professional aptitude.

It is worth noting that 16 vocational schools and 47 universities, including 14 public and 43 private universities, have already benefited from the PIJE program.
