Football : Flag Passing On this 223rd anniversary of the flag, under the presidency of Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé, the National Palace witnessed a moment filled with emotion and history. Mario Léandre, a living legend of the 1974 Haitian Grenadiers, the first team to represent our nation in the World Cup, received the national flag from the Head of Government. Fifty-two years later, with undisguised pride, he passed it on to a player from the 2026 generation, the generation that will bring us back to the world stage. First : The Prime Minister Visits a Class of Magistrates On Friday, May 15, 2026, Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé, accompanied by his Chief of Staff, Axène Joseph, and Patrick Pélissier, Minister of Justice and Public Security, visited the headquarters of the National School for the Judiciary (EMA) on the Frères Road in Pétion-ville. He was welcomed by Kesner Michel Thermesi, the Director General of the EMA, in the presence of the student magistrates of the 8th graduating class. In his address, the Prime Minister announced a significant salary increase for judges, bailiffs, and court clerks. This measure is expected to take effect no later than May 19. "This is the first time in our country’s recent history that a sitting Prime Minister has visited a class of magistrates training at the National School for the Judiciary," he stated. "This gesture reflects an unequivocal political will to place justice at the heart of national recovery," declared Minister Pélissier. BRH forecasts rising inflation Inflation continued its slowdown in March 2026. The rate of price increases remains contained, with annual inflation at 20.6% compared to 22.1% in February 2026. Projections from the Bank of the Republic of Haiti (BRH), taking into account the energy shock stemming from geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and the fuel price adjustment of April 2, 2026, indicate an acceleration in inflation during the next quarter : April 2026 : 22.2%; May 2026 : 25.3% and June 2026 : 28.9% Corventina voted best player of the LFFP Melchie Daëlle Dumornay, also known as "Corventina," already the winner of the National Union of Professional Footballers (UNFP) trophy, which named her Best Player of the 2025-2026 season for OL Lyonne, has also been voted best player at the 2025-2026 Women's Professional Football League (LFFP) Awards. She is also named to the season's best eleven, confirming an exceptional season and her influence at the highest level of women's football. The Haitian Football Federation (FHF) proudly congratulates Melchie Daëlle Dumornay on this new distinction earned at the end of the 2025-2026 season. Champion FC Wins the Horizon 2036 U-17 Tournament Final On Monday, May 18, 2026, the Ministry of Youth, Sports, and Civic Action (MJSAC) organized the grand final of the Horizon 2036 U-17 tournament, an initiative aimed at promoting, identifying, and mentoring young Haitian football talent. The match pitted Champion FC of Pétion-Ville against Trinité of Croix-des-Missions in a highly anticipated duel showcasing the potential of young Haitians. Dominating from start to finish, Champion FC emerged victorious with a score of 3-0, securing the trophy for the inaugural edition of this tournament.
