Yesterday, before leaving Haiti for Ottawa, after a visit of 7 days in her homeland https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-4674-haiti-politic-michaelle-jean-in-haiti-for-7-days.html the UNESCO Special Envoy for Haiti, the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean declared concerning the event that occurred on the evening of January 16 in Delmas 33 :

"I just left Port-au-Prince to Ottawa, the heart heavy at the thought of the terrible traffic accident that occurred yesterday evening, at Delmas 33, and who made dozens of victims and wounded.

I constantly worry at the sight of all these vehicles visibly in a deplorable state that circulate without verification, without control in the country and which constitute daily a real public danger.

My most heartfelt thoughts are with the families burdened by the mourning as well as all wounded to whom I wish the most speedy recovery."
