Haiti - Social : Installation of a new Director General of Religious Affairs

This Monday, January 16, 2012, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Religious Affairs (MAEC) through its Secretary of State Pierre Richard Casimir has proceeded with the installation of Mr. Gary Guiteau, the new Director General of Religious Affairs, in place of Mr. Pierre Antoine Auguste.

During his speech, the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and Religious Affairs reiterated the mission of the Ministry of Religious Affairs which is to ensure the implementation of concordats and special agreements signed by the Government with churches or other religions established on the national territory while insisting on the enforcement of laws relating tofree practice of the various religious cults. He wished an overtaking effort and an intelligent management of the new Director to make harmonious the internal reports related to various cults operating in the country while encouraging a social dynamic among all in the perspective of development.

The MAEC recalls that the sector of ​​Religious Affairs is involved in the business diplomacy through continued investment in the charitable or humanitarian field with a thousand priests, nuns, bishops and archbishops in 10 dioceses and more than 5,000 pastors of all denominations represented in the country.

Mr. Guiteau was born May 10, 1963 to Lascahobas (Centre), is a former parliamentarian, deputy of the first constituency of Las Cahobas, founder of the Federalist Party Democrats (Parti des Démocrates Fédéraliste - PDF), he studied legal science at the Faculty of Law of Port-au-Prince, the science of religion, law and theology at the University of Montreal, in International Law and International Policy at the University of Quebec at Montreal (UQAM).
