Minister Monazard is counting on the diaspora for Haiti's economic recovery

During his official visit to Paris, James Monazard, Minister of Commerce and Industry, met with Haitian entrepreneurs from the diaspora at the Haitian Embassy. Discussions focused on the three priority areas of government action defined by Prime Minister Fils-Aimé : security, economic recovery, and the organization of elections.

Regarding economic recovery, the Minister emphasized the crucial importance of the diaspora. He stressed the need to mobilize both its financial resources and its human capital to get the country back on track. Referring to the approximately $4 billion transferred annually, he reiterated that these contributions remain essential to the functioning of the national economy.

Furthermore, Monazard also highlighted the strategic role that the diaspora can play in Haiti's economic renewal. Addressing the security crisis, he acknowledged its negative impacts while noting that it has revealed the potential of certain regions, particularly the South, with the extension of the runway at Antoine-Simon Airport, and the North, which boasts two industrial parks and an international airport.

In this context, and aiming to offer a message of hope, he affirmed that the country's future rests on the investment and commitment of Haitian entrepreneurs. He encouraged them to consider investing in Haiti, despite the challenging circumstances, citing examples of initiatives already underway.

The message conveyed during these discussions was clear: the Government is determined to revive the economy and is counting heavily on the involvement of the diaspora. To this end, incentive measures are being considered to promote and secure investments.
