DR to Build a Spaceport

During his State of the Nation address on Friday, February 27, 2026, President Luis Abinader announced a historic agreement. After three years of negotiations, an agreement was reached with LOD Holdings for the construction of a commercial spaceport in Oviedo, in the province of Pedernales. This project represents an investment of over $600 million. Furthermore, the President stated that the Dominican Republic plans to launch a satellite or rocket from its territory before May 2028.

A 16-Year-Old Grenadière Among the Senior National Team

At just 16 years old, Alyssa Manassé has been called up to the senior women's national team after shining with Haiti's U-17 team, which qualified for the final phase of the CONCACAF U-17 Women's Championship. Used at both right and left back during the tournament in Curaçao, Alyssa distinguished herself through her consistency, commitment, and maturity on the field. To compensate for the absence of some Grenadières, Swedish coach Pia Sundhage has decided to call up the young defender for the Suriname vs. Haiti match, scheduled for Tuesday, March 3, 2026. Iran War : Message to Haitians in Qatar

In light of recent tensions in the region, including the US attack on Iran and Iran's retaliatory attacks on American bases in the Middle East, including the one in Qatar, the Embassy of the Republic of Haiti in Qatar urges the Haitian community to remain vigilant. Elections and Disability

Genard Joseph, the State Secretary for the Integration of Persons with Disabilities, met with Joseph André Gracien Jean, Minister Delegate to the Prime Minister in charge of electoral and constitutional matters. Discussions focused on the steps taken by the Office of the State Secretary for the Integration of Persons with Disabilities (BSEIPH) to facilitate the effective inclusion of persons with disabilities in the electoral process.

Dominican Rep. Pending Haitian Passports

The Embassy of Haiti in the Dominican Republic informs the general public and the Haitian community in particular that the Passport Unit of the Consular Section is organizing a 3-week "Complaints Week" to process pending passport applications, from Monday, March 2nd to Friday, March 20th, 2026. Anyone who applied for a passport at the Embassy between 2021 and 2024 and has not yet received it is invited to visit the Consular Section to retrieve their application and regularize their situation.

World Money Week

From March 6th to 20th, the Central Bank of Haiti (BRH) will celebrate World Money Week 2026 and promote financial literacy, particularly among young women and men. Program and dates to be announced.
