Haiti - Security : Kidnapping foiled, 8 dead including 2 police officers

On February 23, 2026, the Haitian National Police (PNH) thwarted an attempted kidnapping early in the morning in the Delmas 48 area.

The kidnappers, traveling in two SUVs, were preparing to block their victim's path with their vehicles to kidnap him. Police intervention forced them to abandon their plan and flee. Two of them were fatally wounded in Delmas 31, while the others continued their escape before being surrounded by law enforcement in Delmas 17, where the PNH had deployed several specialized units.

The confrontation with law enforcement led to the neutralization of the four other criminals, including Dumorin Job and Kenny, alias "Kalash" who were fatally wounded in an exchange of gunfire.

Operation Summary :

6 kidnappers neutralized (2 in Delmas 31, 4 in Delmas 17);

3 vehicles confiscated (a Nissan Patrol, a Toyota RAV4, and a Canter);

8 firearms seized, including 4 assault rifles, 4 pistols, and ammunition.

Furthermore, the Haitian National Police (PNH) also recovered the Toyota Prado belonging to the victim, which the kidnappers had targeted for the kidnapping.

However, the PNH mourns the loss of two of its officers, a member of the SWAT Team and an officer from the Intervention Brigade (BI), who died in the line of duty. Three other officers were injured and are currently receiving appropriate medical care.

The PNH reaffirms its commitment to the fight against kidnapping, a scourge that paralyzes the socio-economic activities of the capital. Determined to restore order, she continues its operations throughout the country to guarantee the safety of all citizens.
