Haiti - Education : Meeting on the school integration of disadvantaged children

The Northeast Departmental Directorate of Education recently organized a major meeting dedicated to the educational integration of disadvantaged children. This event, in partnership with UNICEF, brought together key stakeholders in education, including national school principals, parents, school council members, and primary school inspectors.

In his opening remarks, Luckner Mompremier, the Departmental Director, emphasized the importance of educational integration for all children, regardless of their socioeconomic background. He reiterated that education is a fundamental right and that every child deserves a fair chance to succeed.

Inspector Chavanne Jean then spoke, highlighting the challenges faced by children from disadvantaged backgrounds. He mentioned obstacles such as lack of resources, absenteeism, and the need to raise parents' awareness of the importance of education.

National school principals shared their experiences and strategies for promoting educational integration. Several participants mentioned tutoring programs, scholarships, and partnerships with NGOs to provide school supplies to children in need. These discussions led to ideas for best practices.

Parents expressed their concerns about access to education and requested more support for their children. Some proposed innovative ideas, such as awareness workshops for families on the importance of education.

This meeting highlighted the need for collective action to ensure that every child, regardless of their circumstances, can benefit from a quality education.
