Haiti - Security : CIMO Turns 30

On Saturday, the Intervention and Law Enforcement Corps (CIMO) celebrated its 30th anniversary within the Haitian National Police (PNH) on Saturday, February 14, 2026.

The ceremony, marked by prayer, emotion, and solemnity, took place at the unit's headquarters in Delmas 1, under the evocative theme "CIMO : Symbol of Loyalty, Resistance, and Pride" in the the presence of the Commander-in-Chief of the Haitian National Police (PNH), Mr. André Jonas Vladimir Paraison, accompanied by members of the High Command and other dignitaries, was present.

In his remarks, the Director General commended the unit's unwavering commitment to combating organized crime and its efforts to restore public order and social peace.

Several police officers also received plaques of honor and merit, including the current Commander of the CIMO, Divisional Commissioner Paul Ménard, and two former commanders of the unit, Divisional Commissioners Henrice Bleck and Monestime René.

Furthermore, in a symbolic gesture aimed at strengthening ties between the unit and the community, children living near the base were also awarded medals.

Created on February 14, 1996, the CIMO is the PNH's first specialized unit. Based in Delmas, its primary mission is to maintain and restore public order, particularly during demonstrations, riots, civil unrest, or any situation likely to threaten public safety, while also protecting strategic infrastructure and individuals.
