Haiti - Economy : James Monazard visits the Caracol Industrial Park
On Friday, January 13, 2026, James Monazard, the Minister of Commerce and Industry, paid an official visit to the Caracol Industrial Park (PIC). This visit was part of the implementation of the renewed HELP/HOPE Act, recently adopted by the U.S. Congress.
This program is a strategic instrument for strengthening Haiti's economic development. It allows Haitian textiles and clothing to access the U.S. market duty-free, a crucial mechanism that represents nearly 90% of Haiti's exports and directly contributes to maintaining thousands of jobs.
During his visit, the Minister assessed the infrastructure and activities within the park. He also met with local officials and stakeholders to discuss ongoing development programs, while identifying ways to optimize the impact of the HELP/HOPE Act on the national economy.
The PIC is a strategic lever for the country's industrial development. Currently, it generates nearly 2,500 direct jobs. It has 69,304 m² of immediately usable space and an additional 23,552 m² under construction, ready to support industrial growth and contribute to the park's return to its historical employment levels.
Furthermore, the photovoltaic solar power plant currently being installed, with a total capacity of 13.4 MW and equipped with a battery storage system, aims to guarantee a reliable 24/7 power supply for the park and surrounding areas (https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-46735-haiti-caracol-the-country-s-largest-photovoltaic-solar-power-plant.html). This power plant will strengthen energy independence, the sustainability of infrastructure, and the site's attractiveness to investors.
