No National Carnival This Year

On Tuesday, February 10, 2026, Bendgy Tiliase, Secretary of State for Communication, announced that there will be no national carnival this year. He did, however, specify that the government plans to finance carnival festivities in the various municipalities that wish to organize their celebrations around the theme "Haiti Standing".

Armed Groups Estimated to Number More Than 12,000 Men

On Tuesday, before the U.S. Senate, Henry Wooster, the U.S. Chargé d'Affaires, explained that armed groups in Haiti number more than 12,000 men, including approximately 3,000 "particularly well-armed and experienced, who represent the most serious threat."

Fire at “Camp Jamaica”

A fire broke out during the night of Monday, February 9th to Tuesday, February 10th, 2026, at a campsite called “Camp Jamaica” located in Clercine, on the road to Toussaint Louverture International Airport, causing extensive material damage. No loss of life has been reported.

USA : $16 Million More for Food Security

The United States is strengthening its support for Haiti by providing an additional $16 million to an ongoing resilience and food security program implemented by Catholic Relief Services, which for the past five years has been providing food and nutritional support to vulnerable households and assisting farmers and micro-entrepreneurs in the Northeast and South departments. Thanks to this additional funding, communities in these regions will continue to benefit from this essential assistance.

New Team in Port-au-Prince and Gressier

A new municipal team has been formed in Port-au-Prince. Yves Andrel Salomon has been appointed president of the Municipal Commission, replacing Youri Chevry. Dorothée Ignace Morel and Esther Cineas will serve as his deputies until the next elections. A new team has also been formed in Gressier. Bertho Casséus has been appointed president of the Municipal Commission. Wadlène Corielan and Vilama Alphonse will serve as his deputies until the next elections.
