At least ten people have been treated after contracting anthrax, while several cattle and horses have already succumbed to the disease in the area. Anthrax is a serious infectious disease caused by the bacterium Bacillus anthracis. It primarily affects animals such as cattle, sheep, and goats, but can also be transmitted to humans through direct contact with infected animals or animal products such as meat, hides, or wool. Cholera Prevention in Camps In overcrowded displacement camps in Port-au-Prince, IOM is monitoring water quality to prevent cholera and protect lives. Through simulations and practical exercises, displaced families are strengthening their capacity to maintain safe water practices, with the support of the European Union's Civil Protection & Humanitarian Aid Delegation in Haiti. Cross-country skiing : poor performance by Stevenson Savart On Sunday, February 8, 2026, at the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics in Italy, French-Haitian skier Stevenson Savart finished 64th in the men's cross-country skiing final (skiathlon : 10 km classic style and 10 km skating style). He completed the course in 56:52.8, compared to a time of 46:11.0 achieved by the winner of this event, Norwegian Johannes Høsflot Klaebo.
