NOTICE : February 9th no working day

The Jacmel City Hall informs the public that Monday, February 9, 2026, will be a no working day following the festivities related to the 34th edition of the Jacmel Carnival this Sunday, February 8th. Public and private administrations, as well as schools, will be closed. The City Hall takes this opportunity to wish everyone a happy Carnival 2026, always in unity, love, peace, fraternity, and patriotism, around the theme : "Jacmel in Our Dreams".

February 8, 2026 : Jacmel Carnival (Parade)

February 15, 16, and 17, 2026 : Carnival Days

Note : On the occasion of the Jacmel National Carnival, scheduled for this Sunday, February 8th, the carrying of weapons and the use of glass containers will be strictly prohibited. Specialized units will be deployed to ensure the safety of festivalgoers.

IOM Builds Shelters for Displaced Persons

As gang violence spreads across Haiti’s provinces, destroying villages, farmland, and homes, humanitarian needs continue to grow. In Hinche, International Organization for Migration (IOM) teams are supporting the construction of 20 shelters for displaced families. Urgent funding is needed to reach more vulnerable households.

Depestre Centenary : Carnival in Poetry in Jacmel

To celebrate the centenary of René Depestre, the Jacmel Carnival Committee and the City Hall presented "Carnival in Poetry" with the participation of NS3 students from several schools in the city. The students performed a street show on Saturday, February 7, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., starting at the Alliance Française, proceeding along Barranquilla Avenue, and ending at City Hall.

Justice : Abusive Fuel Price Fluctuations

"Following inspections carried out by our service stations, we found that consumer rights are not being respected. We have filed a complaint with the courts to address the unfair competition and abusive fuel price fluctuations at stations in the Northeast Department, where some are selling a gallon of gasoline for 750 HTG or 700 HTG, while others are selling it for 625 HTG," Northeast Departmental Directorate of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MCI).

January 2026 : 11.8 Billion in Customs Revenue
