Port-de-Paix : Airport Construction Announced

During the official handover of two state-of-the-art fire trucks https://www.icihaiti.com/en/news-46740-icihaiti-airports-two-new-state-of-the-art-fire-trucks-received.html , Yves Ducarmel François, Director General of the National Airport Authority (AAN), announced the project to build a modern airport in Port-à-L'Écu, located 22 km from Port-de-Paix, in the Northwest Department. He specified that the site was chosen after extensive studies.

Suspension of Subsidies within the Public Administration

Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé has decided to suspend, until further notice, the granting of subsidies within the Public Administration, except with special authorization from the Prime Minister's Office. The measure, announced in a circular dated Tuesday, January 27, instructs all state authorizing officers to refrain from any decision committing to subsidies and to strictly comply with this directive.

Elections : Agreement between the CEP and Mexico

On Wednesday, January 28, 2026, Jacques Desrosiers, President of the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP), and the United States Ambassador to Mexico, José de Jesus Cisneros Chavez, signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation between the National Electoral Institute of Mexico (INE) and the CEP. Through this memorandum of understanding, the two institutions intend to formalize their cooperation, particularly in strengthening the capacities of electoral operators, managing and updating the electoral register, and using technology in election management.

400 Producers Trained in Banana Tree Staking

With the support of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the Ministry of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Rural Development, 400 producers now possess the necessary technical knowledge, such as banana tree staking, to better protect their plots from climate hazards in northern and central Haiti.

29 Police Officers Graduated in Combat Driving

On Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at the General Directorate of the Haitian National Police (DGPNH), a graduation ceremony was held for 57 recipients: 29 police officers in combat driving (military tactics), 20 roadside assistance vehicle technicians, and 8 tire inflation technicians.
