Increase in Internally Displaced Persons In its quarterly report to the Security Council, published on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, the United Nations Integrated Office in Haiti (BINUH) revealed an alarming increase in the number of internally displaced persons. This figure reached a record 1.4 million people, or 12% of Haiti’s total population, in September 2025, double the figure recorded in September 2024. Women and girls represent 54% of the displaced, while children constitute 53%. The report also emphasizes that resources allocated to humanitarian aid remain largely insufficient and that humanitarian access is becoming increasingly difficult. As of December 31, only 24.1% of the $908 million needed had been funded. HL/ HaitiLibre
