Haiti - FLASH : 30 weapons and a large quantity of ammunition seized in the stronghold of «Barbecue»

Monday, January 19, 2026. A large-scale police operation by the Haitian National Police (PNH), involving several special units, was conducted in Delmas 2, considered the stronghold of Jimmy Chérisier, alias "Barbecue," the leader of the "Viv Ansanm" terrorist coalition.

During this operation, a residence belonging to "Barbecue" was completely destroyed, along with heavy equipment, a fact confirmed by Frantz Lerebours, spokesperson for the PNH. Furthermore, at least six terrorists were fatally wounded, while several others, wounded in the exchange of fire with law enforcement, managed to escape. Several vehicles were also destroyed.

This operation resulted in the seizure of a significant cache of weapons and ammunition, including :

• 5 drones;

• 8 pistols;

• 18 12-gauge shotguns;

• 3 AR-15 rifles;

• 1 .22 caliber rifle;

A considerable quantity of ammunition in 5.56, 12, 7.62, .38, and 9 mm calibers was also seized.

In addition, cream and blue UDMO uniforms bearing the rank insignia of Police Inspector were recovered, along with several bulletproof vests, tear gas grenades, and a plastic bag containing small denominations of 2, 10, and 25 gourdes.
