On February 8th, the CPT will no longer be there

On Saturday, January 10, 2026, in Jacmel, on the sidelines of a conference on the development of the Southeast, Leslie Voltaire, Presidential Transitional Advisor (CPT), addressed the issue of the end of the CPT members' mandate, scheduled for February 7, 2026. He reiterated that the April 3rd agreement, as well as the decree establishing and governing the CPT, clearly define the duration of the transition and declared : "Nou siyen pou nou ale. CARICOM : The GPE Deeply Concerned

The Group of Eminent Persons (GPE) of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) is particularly aware that the mandate of the Transitional Council will end on February 7, 2026. The GPE is deeply concerned by the slowness of the actors in finding common ground and rallying around a consensus agreement, under Haiti's leadership, on an alternative transition process, despite the points of convergence in the numerous proposals made public. The GPE calls on the actors to demonstrate patriotism above all if Haitians wish to decide their own destiny.
