Haiti - 2026 : New Year's Message from the Gang Supression Force

Haiti - 2026 : New Year's Message from the Gang Supression Force

On this January 1st of the new year 2026, the Gang Repression Force (FRG) delivered a message to the Haitian people and its partners, which we are publishing for the benefit of our many loyal readers.

GSF New Year's Message :

"As we welcome the New Year, we extend our sincere wishes for peace, health and prosperity to all partners, stakeholders and the people of Haiti. This occasion allows us to reflect on the progress achieved under our mandate and reaffirm our shared commitment to Haiti’s security and stability.

On September 30, 2025, the UN Security Council adopted Resolution 2793 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-45891-haiti-flash-the-security-council-has-voted-for-the-new-gang-repression-force.html , that authorized the transition of the MSS into the Gang Suppression Force mandated to conduct intelligence-led targeted counter-gang operations to neutralize the threat, isolate the gangs from the population and their enabling systems, provide security to critical infrastructure and transit locations in order to deter future gang activity.

Since this authorization took effect, GSF personnel, working in close coordination with the Haitian National Police (HNP) and Forces Armées d’Haïti (FAd'H), have continued to achieve observable security milestones that have disrupted gang activities, leading to arrests and recovery of assorted arms and retaking territories under gang control. With sustained anti-gang-operations ongoing, GSF, HNP and FAd'H personnel have also intensified day and night patrols in various locations within and beyond Port-au-Prince, leading to the re-opening of most previously inaccessible transit routes and roads in the capital. In addition, the troops continue to provide dedicated security and protection of the country's critical infrastructure, including; The main airport, transit locations, the Port and communication installations to ensure continued and seamless flow of operations.

In a bid to expand patrol coverage, frequency and timely response, the established Forward Operating Bases (FOBs) in gang-affected areas have played a critical role in fostering security.

[...]

In the roadmap to implement the GSF resolution, the Mission welcomes the appointment of the Special Representative for the Gang Suppression Force in Haiti and the recent successful Force generation conference in New York as it indicates the determination of the international community towards a sustainable peace and stability for Haiti, in line with UN Security Council Resolution 2793.

As 2025 comes to an end, the GSF celebrates its personnel drawn from Bahamas, El Salvador, Guatemala, Jamaica and Kenya for their heroism, applaud the leadership of Haiti for continued support, the people of Haiti for having faith and confidence in the Mission as well as the international community for their continued support. The GSF also recognizes the key role played by the local Haitian media through their fair coverage and reporting of security matters.

As we enter 2026, The GSF will remain focused on dismantling gangs, restoring security and laying the foundation for lasting peace and democratic governance.

Together, we can achieve a future where Haiti enjoys enduring peace, security, stability and prosperity.

Happy New Year 2026 !"
