Haiti - Politic : The CPPH recommends to not publish the text of the amended Constitution
The Convention of Haitian political parties (CPPH) recommended yesterday Friday, January 6, to not proceed with the publication of the amended Constitution and corrected, nearly 7 months after its ratification by the National Assembly. The CPPH calls for the mobilization of active forces of the Nation for a wide consultation in order to develop a new proposal of amendment to be submitted at the last session of the 49th Legislature "Any publication of the French version amended would put the Haitian Nation before two constitutions, contrary in some of their provisions," stresses the CPPH.
On the sidelines of this Convention, Mirlande Manigat, of the Rally of Progressive National Democrats (RDNP) has described of "legal brigandage" all maneuvers made around the amendment of the Constitution of 1987 "Proceedings of the amendment is completed Constitutional time is exhausted. If the President Martelly publishes the amended version, the country will be without any constitutionality."
The CPPH who approves the dissolution of the Provisional Electoral Council has indicated that the President Martelly and its Prime Minister should meet as soon as possible with political parties and other sectors to build a new Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) to organize the next election for the third of the Senate (10 senators), the 140 municipal boards, and the 570 boards of Communal Sections (CASEC). Recalling the absence of a timetable for the next elections which should have been held in 2011.
