On Tuesday, December 16, 2025, Laurent Saint Cyr, President pro tempore and Coordinator of the Transitional Council, accompanied by Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé, presided over the official New Year's greetings ceremony at the Villa d’Accueil. The ceremony was held for members of the senior civil service and the diplomatic and consular corps accredited to Haiti.

This ceremony, conducted in accordance with protocol and republican traditions, took place in the presence of members of the Presidential Transitional Council, the President of the Superior Council of the Judiciary (CSPJ), members of the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP), as well as senior officials from the public administration and local and international diplomatic partners.

"2026 must be the year of the gradual restoration of security, the year of preparing for and holding credible elections, and the year of a confident return to democratic order."

He expressed his hope that 2026 would be a year of unity, courage, and civic engagement, in order to build together a better future for the Haitian people.
