APN : Blockade of the Varreux Container Port

An internal source at the National Port Authority (APN) has responded to allegations made by David Ware, representative of Africa Global Logistics (AGL), during an interview on a Haitian radio station. Ware claimed that the Haitian government has not granted an operating permit for the Varreux container terminal for the past five years, despite a $60 million investment ( https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-46167-haiti-news-zapping.html ). This source asserts that the Haitian government has not granted a construction permit for the infrastructure and has been presented with a fait accompli, stating, "Without a construction permit, we cannot issue an operating permit. There is a clear procedure to follow..." It should be noted that this information does not originate from an official APN document.

Checks for former CNE employees are ready

The Ministry of Economy and Finance informs former employees of the National Equipment Center (CNE) that checks for the final settlement of their salaries and compensation are now available. Checks will be distributed at the Ministry's offices located at 5 Avenue Charles Sumner, in accordance with established procedures, and upon presentation of identification. Those concerned are asked to strictly follow the instructions given by the authorized agents responsible for distribution.

Elections August 30, 2026

According to the Provisional Electoral Council's (CEP) electoral calendar submitted to the executive branch, the first round of the legislative and presidential elections is scheduled for August 30, 2026. The second round will take place on December 6, 2026, and the final results will be announced on January 20, 2027. Taiwan provides funding for Rice Production

Cheng-hao Hu, the Ambassador of Taiwan (Republic of China) to Haiti, presented funds to the Haitian Ministry of Agriculture for "Rice Production Improvement Projects" to help local farmers increase their productivity. Taiwan reaffirms its support for and commitment to Haitian agriculture; this cooperation will contribute to strengthening food security and social stability in Haiti.

SPNH-17 Commends the Valiant Police Officers

The SPNH-17, the Police Union, "commends the courage and determination of the valiant police officers mobilized in Mirebalais, Croix-des-Bouquets, and throughout the rest of the country to send a clear message to the gangs. The officers of SWAT, UTAG, BRI, BIM, UDMO, and all other units demonstrate that when the State and the Police Directorate provide the resources, motivation, and sound guidance, the results speak for themselves."
