Haiti - Insecurity : 3rd quarter 2025, 1,247 people killed and 710 injured (report)

On Tuesday, November 11, a report from the United Nations Integrated Office in Haiti (BINUH) revealed that during the third quarter of 2025 (July 1st to September 30), gangs did not advance within the capital and were even pushed back from some neighborhoods. However, their attacks continued to spread to the outlying and rural areas of Port-au-Prince, as well as to the Artibonite and Central departments.

In total, during this period, at least 1,247 people were killed and 710 wounded. In addition, there were at least 145 kidnappings for ransom and 400 victims of sexual violence.

In the outskirts of the capital, particularly in Arcahaie and Cabaret, as well as in the Artibonite and Central departments, gang attacks have been largely indiscriminate, aimed at seizing control of towns located along strategic roads leading to the north and east of the country.

In this context of armed violence, the population continues to face serious obstacles in accessing basic services, while gang attacks on homes, public infrastructure, and other buildings continue to cause mass displacement. By the end of September, more than 1.4 million people were displaced within the country.
