FLASH: More than 220 political parties regularized

Patrick Pélissier, the Minister of Justice and Public Security, reports that to date, more than 220 political parties have regularized their files with the relevant department of the Ministry, which will shortly publish the list of parties in good standing. The Minister congratulates them and wishes them good luck in the upcoming elections. Note that the Government has included $3 billion in "support for political parties" in its budget.

Youri Latortue and Joseph Lambert before the courts

On Wednesday, October 22, 2025, former senators Youri Latortue and Joseph Lambert appeared before the Port-au-Prince Court of Appeals as part of the investigation into acts of corruption in the Senate. Latortue is being prosecuted for issuing checks totaling nearly 3 million gourdes between October 2017 and January 2020, payable to his mother, Carmen Immacula Cantave, while he was President of the Senate. Lambert, for his part, is charged with refusing to cooperate with the justice system. The hearing has been adjourned for a week.

Les Cayes : Rehabilitation center for children and adolescents Project

On Wednesday, October 22, 2025, Leslie Voltaire, Presidential Transition Advisor, held a hybrid meeting (in person and online) at the Villa d'Accueil with several stakeholders from national institutions and international partners. Participants included Serge Gabriel Collin, Director General of the Economic and Social Assistance Fund; Arielle Jeanty Villedrouin, Director General of the Social Welfare Institute; and representatives from UNICEF, Viva Rio, Sant Karl Levêque (SKL), and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). The meeting aimed to advance the project to create a reintegration center for children and adolescents in vulnerable situations or in conflict with the law in the city of Les Cayes.
