Haiti - Justice : ULCC Director Promises to Purify the State

Hans Jacques Ludwig Joseph, Director General of the Anti-Corruption Unit (ULCC), affirmed that he would pursue each investigation despite pressure. "I want to make this clear to all Haitians. No distraction will divert the ULCC from its objective. My plan is to purify the state and its evil intentions. This is the mission entrusted to us by law," adding, The work of the institution will be carried out without bias, without any harmful influence on the path to the truth [...]"

The ULCC is currently fighting embezzlement of public funds, corruption, poor governance, and financial abuse within Haitian public institutions. Sixty-three cases have been referred to the courts to date under Joseph's leadership.

The new reports concern alleged cases of embezzlement of public funds, corruption, and mismanagement in several public institutions.

Among the seven latest investigation reports submitted to the courts https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-45869-haiti-news-zapping.html one is relating to the use of 10 million gourdes disbursed on behalf of the Ministry of Youth for commemorative activities for the Battle of Vertières on November 18, 2024. This report directly implicates the current Minister, Niola Lynn, for irregularities in the use of this fund.

Another investigation highlights strong suspicions of corruption in the management of Gamall Jules, the former Director General of Haitian National Television (TNH), accused of unjustified spending and questionable administrative practices. The former Director General of TNH is in police custody.
