On Thursday, September 4th, 2025, the National Education Fund (FNE) held an important meeting with the Rectors of the Public Universities (UPR) of the South, Southeast, Nippes, and Grand'Anse departments.

This meeting, which was part of preparations for the start of the 2025-2026 academic year, allowed the FNE to study, with the UPRs of the Grand-Sud, priority projects with immediate impact that should contribute to the development of higher education in the region.

Following this meeting, the National Education Fund decided to finance projects totaling 52 million gourdes for :

Public University of the Southeast :

• The construction of a culinary and food service laboratory;

• The construction and equipping of the Rectorate's administrative building;

• Acquisition and installation of solar energy equipment.

Public University of Grand'Anse :

• Establishment of an experimental science laboratory as part of the STEMM project;

• Expansion of four classrooms;

• Acquisition and installation of solar energy equipment.

Public University of Nippes :

• Establishment of a computer lab;

• Acquisition and installation of solar energy equipment;

• Redesign of classrooms;

• Acquisition of university chairs.

Public University of the South :

Furthermore, to support university education in the long term and encourage the development of vocational training programs in the country's regions, the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the FNE are working with the UPRs to sign and implement a State/UPR contract plan. This contract reflects the will and firm commitment of the State and the Public Universities in the Regions to carry out projects and undertake reforms in educational programs for the benefit of young people in particular and the university community in general.
