On Friday, August 22, 2025, at a press conference, Henry Wooster, the chargé d'affaires of the United States Embassy in Haiti, gave the American vision of the Multinational Security Support Mission (MMSS).

"We want to take this force, the MSS [...] we want to alter it so that it's better able. We want it to have all the assets, we want it to have the authorities, we want it to have the personnel and the equipment to do what's necessary here.

And so we want to make sure that those corrections, those recalibrations now after one year of the deployment are made so that that force can be truly aligned and the resources it has with the challenge that it is facing," stressing "The Kenyans have done everything we have asked them to do, everything we have asked them to do [...]"

Let's recall that on August 20, 2025, Kimberly J. Penland, Deputy Chief of Mission to the Organization of American States (OAS), had stated that Washington was considering doubling the size of foreign forces deployed in Haiti, with the possibility of another country taking the lead in the new force.

However, the United States can expect resistance from China and Russia, which have consistently criticized Washington during Security Council discussions on Haiti.
