Haiti - Social : Martelly continues his tour in Cap-Haitien

Michel Martelly, the President of the Republic, went, Thursday, December 22, 2011, in the city of Cap Haitien, North, where he continued after North West, South and West, his grand tour of solidarity on the occasion of Christmas and year-end. he Head of State, accompanied by Senator Edwin Zenny of South East and members of his cabinet, was received, amongst others, by the Departmental Delegate, Yvo Alteon, when he stepped off the helicopter at the Parc St-Victor, where he spoke to reporters by sharing the meaning of this noble initiative.

The President Martelly believes that solidarity is a question of sharing. He also believes that the most important is job creation and sustainable development. Also he promises again to work for this purpose.

After a walk of few minutes to downtown, the President of the Republic met to the St. Joseph School with Brother Charles Coutard, with one of his former professors, as well as Brother Yves Allain. The program of free education was the focus of a successful interview. On the courtyard of the school, the Head of State has made a distribution of gifts to hundreds of children. He also made happy on the Place d'Armes of Cap-Haitien, where thousands of residents had gathered to welcome him. Motorcycles, pick-up double cab as well as envelopes were distributed to citizens. The winner of the Pick-Up, Sandro André is a disabled person who chairs a group of rara. Thousands of bags of fertilizer are also available in the region and will soon be distributed to farmers.

Before this historic friendly atmosphere in the public square, a working meeting was held at the Hotel Roi Christophe with officials of the region, representatives of associations, industry and religious leaders including Bishop Louis Kebreau to whom the President of the Republic expressed his gratitude for his dedication and sense of leadership. During the meeting, the President of the Republic asked accountable for the implementation of infrastructure projects and sanitation in the various municipalities of the Northern Department. He took the opportunity to evaluate the progress of the works to extend the runway at the international airport of Cap-Haitien. This work will be completed in 2013.

Participants had the privilege of presenting their demands to the Head of State which, in turn urged the authorities concerned to work in synergy to deliver concrete results for local people.
