Haiti - FLASH : 5 police officers ambushed in Kenscoff, 2 dead and 3 injured

On the night of August 12-13, 2025, five police officers assigned to the Departmental Operations and Intervention Brigade (BOID) were conducting a security patrol in the Kenscoff area in an armored vehicle, were ambushed in the Téléco area.

The armored vehicle they were patrolling in fell into a trench dug by bandits and could not be extricated. During an intense gunfight, several bandits were fatally injured. Unfortunately, two police officers lost their lives in combat, and the other three were injured, forced to retreat. The armored vehicle was set on fire.

"In these painful circumstances, the High Command of the Haitian National Police, through its Commander-in-Chief, bows before the memory of these heroes and offers its sympathies to the families of the missing, as well as to all the police officers who are giving their all to restore security and peace throughout the national territory, while wishing a speedy recovery to the injured.

The Haitian National Police (PNH) renews its commitment to combating insecurity and remains more mobilized and determined than ever to incapacitate the criminals and their sponsors.

Furthermore, the High Command informs the police that the Presidential Transitional Council (CPT) and the Government are doing everything possible to provide the Haitian National Police with adequate resources to address the situation. Therefore, it calls on them to unite more closely and remain mobilized to thwart any planned malicious actions by the armed terrorist groups of the 'Viv Ansanm' coalition.

The High Command therefore takes this opportunity to request the continued support of the population in this arduous struggle for the triumph of the rule of law."
