Guadeloupe / French Guiana : Resumption of Haitian Deportations

After a year of almost total suspension of deportations to Haiti, and despite the National Court of Asylum recognizing the situation of generalized violence of exceptional intensity in Haiti, repatriations have resumed in the Administrative Detention Centers of the prefectures of Guadeloupe and French Guiana, which carried out the forced return of four Haitians to their country in June 2025, risking their lives.

70 Years of Konpa

July 26, 2025, marks the 70th anniversary of Konpa, a symbolic date that honors one of the most vibrant pillars of our musical heritage. Created in 1955 thanks to the genius of Jean-Baptiste Nemours, accompanied by visionary musicians such as Weber Sicot, the Duroseau brothers, and other founding figures, the Konpa movement is a symbol of the 70th anniversary of Konpa. On this occasion, the City of Port-au-Prince pays tribute to all those who, through their talents, have brought this musical tradition to life, transmitted it, and enriched it. The city invites the population to proudly celebrate this anniversary, to listen, to dance, and to protect and promote this cultural heritage, which is an integral part of our national identity.

100 Women Trained as Community Mediators

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) celebrated the achievements of more than 100 women trained as community mediators to reduce conflict and rebuild trust, thanks to the support of the United Nations Political and Peacebuilding Affairs (UNDPPA) and the French Embassy in Haiti. Led by Quisqueya University, the United Nations Integrated Office in Haiti (BINUH), the Haitian National Police (PNH), and IOM, this initiative represents a step toward peacebuilding.

Expanded Program on Immunization

The 2025 mid-year review workshop for the Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI) brought together all of the country's departmental health directors. Emphasis was placed on their crucial role in coordinating and monitoring vaccination activities at the departmental level for the second half of 2025. The objective is clear: to increase national vaccination coverage from 75% to 95% for all antigens. The mobilization of departmental health directorates is a key factor in achieving this level of performance.

More than 700 tons of food aid

This week, WFP emergency food aid continues to be provided to more than 14,450 families in Delmas. 623 tons of rice, beans, and oil were distributed. In addition, 102 tons of fortified flour were provided, particularly targeting pregnant women.
