Haiti - FLASH : Canada sends military surveillance drones to Haiti

As part of a new initiative to combat violence and the spread of armed gangs in Haiti, the Canadian government has begun sending military surveillance drones to support Haitian security forces. The information was revealed by Canadian media outlet CBC News, citing federal officials involved in the operation.

The drones, whose the exact number was not disclosed for security reasons, began arriving in Haiti in June 2025 and will continue to be delivered in the coming weeks. These are unarmed, high-tech aircraft designed for intelligence and reconnaissance tasks, with the aim of strengthening the capabilities of the Haitian National Police (PNH).

According to CBC News, these drones will allow the PNH to monitor areas with high gang concentrations, identify suspicious movements, and better plan their interventions.

The drone deployment is part of Canada's broader contribution to the Kenyan-led international mission approved by the UN Security Council.
