Haiti - Diplomacy : First Message to the Haitian People from the New U.S. Ambassador (video)

The Chargé d'Affaires and new U.S. Ambassador to Haiti, Henry Wooster, having previously served in Port-au-Prince, returns to Haiti with a firm commitment to strengthening the partnership between the two Nations during this critical time, and delivers his first message to the Haitian people.

Message :

"Hello Haiti,

I am Henry Wooster, the new Chargé d'Affaires at the U.S. Embassy in Haiti. I am very pleased to be returning to Port-au-Prince. I previously served in Haiti from 1998 to 2000, and my family and I enjoyed our time here, from the Konpa music and beaches to the country's rich history and delicious cuisine.

I am honored to return to Haiti and lead the U.S. Embassy at such a crucial time. I will work with the Haitian people to strengthen the relationship between our two countries and address the complex challenges we face.

In these unprecedented times, our priority is to address the security situation. For far too long, criminal gangs have used violence to terrorize Haiti for their own personal gain at the expense of ordinary Haitians.

Together with Haitians and the international community, we will address the security crisis and strengthen international support for the Haitian National Police and the Multinational Security Support Mission.

I want to hear your voices, your ideas, and your hopes for the future. The Embassy is here to collaborate with Haitians and our partners to build a safer and stronger Haiti. We believe in Haiti's potential.

Men anpil, chay pa lou !"
