Marchand-Dessalines : Police Station burned down

On Thursday, July 17, 2025, between 3 and 4 a.m., according to witness reports, the police station in the commune of Marchand-Dessalines was the target of an attack by heavily armed individuals from the "Kokorat san ras" gang. The attackers left the commune around 6 a.m. after setting fire to the police station. According to Dunord Ciléus, Mayor of the commune, no other buildings were damaged and no human lives were reported.

USA : End of TPS, February 3rd, 2026

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has upheld the decision of Federal Judge Brian M. Cogan for the Eastern District of New York, postponing the end of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) to February 3rd, 2026, rather than September 2nd, 2025, as the Trump administration had requested.

Discussions focused on Temporary Protected Status (TPS), improving conditions for beneficiaries of the "Humanitarian Parole" conditional stay program, which was eliminated by the Trump administration, and ensuring the rights and dignity of Haitian nationals.

Assassination of J. Moïse: Prosecutor's Office Requests Resumption of Investigation

On July 16, 2025, after several weeks of hearings, the Port-au-Prince Court of Appeals officially closed the sessions relating to the investigation into the assassination of President Jovenel Moïse. This closure comes after the summary observations of the parties and the final statements of the detained defendants, including Macky Kessa, Joseph Félix Badio, Ronald Guerrier, and the 17 Colombians. During the hearings, none of the defendants admitted guilt. In its closing arguments, the prosecution requested the annulment of the order issued by investigating judge Walther Wesser Voltaire in January 2024. It asked the Court of Appeal to appoint a new judge to resume the investigation of the case, as stated by Magistrate Rocky Pierre.
