Bloody Gang Attacks

The latest report from the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) provides a partial assessment of the attacks by armed gangs in the localities of Desvarrieux, Savane La Coupe, and Sarazin, near the commune of Lascahobas. There were approximately eight deaths, several missing persons, and three vehicles stolen by the gangs.

Act of maritime piracy

On the evening of Thursday, July 3rd, 2025, the sailboat "Jezi Vle," which departed from Zetwa (3rd communal section of Anse-à-Galets) bound for Arcahaie, was intercepted by heavily armed pirates. They robbed approximately ten people on board of all their valuables and seized a significant amount of the cargo, consisting of sacks of coal.

More than 3,800 cases of gender-based violence in 5 months

More than 3,800 cases of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) were recorded in Haiti between January and May 2025, with a 41% increase between April and May. This alarming trend calls for increased protection for women and girls. Humanitarian workers remain mobilized.

Boat for ransom

The boat "Seguère," hijacked a week ago by bandits from the "Viv Ansanm" coalition, finally docked at La Gonâve Island on Friday, July 4. The vessel was operating between Port-au-Prince and Anse à Galet. According to Pastor Lamour Beaucicot, the pirates unloaded the boat after receiving several ransoms from its owner.

Port-Salut : Protection around the Scipion Bridge

As part of the Safety Net Strengthening Program for Vulnerable Populations, the Economic and Social Assistance Fund (FAES) has undertaken the construction of a protective wall around the Scipion Bridge, in the commune of Port-Salut (South Department). This initiative, funded by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and supervised by the Association of Volunteers for International Service (AVSI), provides an income to 84 heads of household, allowing them to meet basic needs.
