Haiti - France : RAID training, intervention in hostile environments

Following France's delivery of four tons of equipment and materials for the special units of the Haitian National Police (PNH) https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-45168-haiti-flash-france-sends-4-tons-of-equipment-and-materials-for-the-pnh-special-units.html , four members of the French police's elite RAID unit were deployed to the Port-au-Prince police academy to train 55 trainees from the ranks of the Research and Intervention Brigade (BRI), the Anti-Gang Tactical Unit (UTAG), the Anti-Narcotics Bureau (BLTS), and the Stolen Vehicle Bureau (BLVV), and nine instructors in operational command and response in hostile environments.

The trainees completed a training session The participants were able to practice tactical shooting and practice under real-life conditions using simulated ammunition and weapons, a first in Haiti.

This training is part of an ongoing program of projects implemented through the Directorate of International Security Cooperation (DCIS) of the Ministry of the Interior with the support of the Directorate of Security and Defense Cooperation (DCSD) of the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs.

This support from France aims to support the Haitian government's investment in its security forces to significantly increase their numbers and equipment.

Various training sessions by French experts are underway or planned as part of projects carried out by the Organization of American States (OAS) and the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF) via the FRANCOPOL police network, particularly for the benefit of the Bureau of Financial and Economic Affairs of the Judicial Police.
