Haiti - Tourism : Tourism at the heart of the country's economic recovery...

On Wednesday, July 2nd, 2025, at the Karibe Hotel in Pétion-ville, Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé participated in the celebration of National Tourism and Local and Regional Development Day.

Themed "The Tourism Industry: From Resilience to Economic Recovery" this celebration brought together John Herrick Dessources, the Minister of Tourism, several members of the Government, Secretaries of State, Directors General, entrepreneurs, and representatives of tourism associations.

In his speech, the Minister of Tourism praised the commitment of the partners and institutions that supported the Ministry in fulfilling its mission. He also presented the five main areas of action around which the Ministry's actions are structured :

1. Renovation of tourist sites;

2. Capacity building of the Tourist Police (PoliTour);

3. Implementation of the integrated investment program for the North and the Greater South, dubbed "The New Deal";

4. Review of the regulatory framework for the tourism sector;

5. Institutional strengthening of the Ministry of Tourism and the Ministry of Culture, particularly for better management of the National Historical Park.

These initiatives aim to leverage Haiti's tourism potential as a lever for economic growth.

For his part, Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé paid a glowing tribute to the hoteliers, restaurateurs, drivers, artisans, and entrepreneurs who continue to move forward despite the challenges.

"Haiti is a land of attraction, rich in the diversity of its heritage," he emphatically declared, praising the resilience of its communities and the creativity of its youth.

The Head of Government reiterated his government's commitment to restoring security and reviving tourism at the heart of the national economy, a key pillar in the reconstruction of a new Haiti.
