Haiti - Health : Distribution of a large batch of equipment to hospitals in the metropolitan area

On Saturday, June 28, 2025, Dr. Bertrand Sinal, Minister of Public Health, handed over a large batch of equipment to hospital officials in the Port-au-Prince metropolitan area.

This initiative is part of the strengthening of the Expanded Immunization Program in Haiti, in a context marked by an intensified fight against the resurgence of vaccine-preventable diseases, particularly in camps for displaced families.

Thanks to the partnership between the Ministry, the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), and the Government of Canada (via GAVI), more than 500 health facilities across the country will be equipped to improve access, quality, and continuity of services, particularly in remote areas.

The equipment distributed includes :

• Medical furniture;

• Ventilation equipment;

• Communication/Awareness-raising materials;

• Tools for field logistics...

"Providing these basic tools restores dignity to healthcare workers and strengthens the effectiveness of public services," the Minister said, emphasizing the importance of this support in motivating healthcare professionals, often on the front lines in difficult conditions.

Dr. Martial Benêche, Director of the Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI), took the opportunity to reiterate a key message : "Vaccination remains one of the surest ways to protect children against potentially fatal diseases." He therefore invites parents and caregivers to play their part and contribute to this collective effort to improve the health of the population.
