While awaiting payment to debit cards, the Ministry of National Education is preparing to distribute 34,159 checks to all its staff, teachers and administrative staff, nationwide. According to Administrative Director Guichard Chéry, the Ministry was forced to opt for this strategy because it did not want to prolong the wait for the teachers' unions, who had been waiting for an advance for more than two months. The Minister stated that the distribution of these checks is a decision aimed at unblocking the situation, but that the commitment remains unchanged. The idea is to provide each public sector teacher with a debit card topped up monthly by the Public Treasury with 15,000 Gourdes.

Regarding the distribution of these checks, the Minister of Education asks all departmental directors of education to take appropriate measures to ensure that the rightful beneficiaries receive them. No one is authorized to receive checks for anyone. All this must be done to make the operation credible and ensure that only those actually working benefit from this benefit.

After summarizing all the efforts made to move this matter forward, the Ministry's Administrative Director, Guichard Chéry, announced that these 34,159 checks totaled 2 billion 277 million 722 thousand 320 Gourdes. This applies to teachers and other public school staff from the 10 Departmental Directorates of Education (DDE) and the Ministry's central office.
