Haiti - Politic : Important Council of Ministers

After several weeks of tension between members of the Presidential Transitional Council (CPT), which prevented them from reaching the quorum of five votes required for a Council of Ministers meeting, the CPT members and the Government finally managed to overcome their differences. On Tuesday, June 24, a Council of Ministers meeting was held at the Villa d'accueil, chaired by Fritz Alphonse Jean. Initially scheduled for June 23, it was canceled due to ongoing tensions within the CPT.

Fritz Alphonse Jean announced that the Presidential Advisors and members of the Government had ratified the Penal Code and the Code of Criminal Procedure, eagerly awaited by the population and many organized sectors of the country. Although the details of the amended versions have not yet been made public, this ratification is seen as a strong signal in favor of strengthening the judicial system. The 2025 Referendum Decree was also ratified, a necessary prelude to the organization of free, inclusive, and credible elections.

"We remind the Nation that the country is going through a difficult period in its history and that we have an obligation to work to provide it with good institutions, adequate legal provisions, and competent and experienced people capable of serving the population as it deserves. The struggle continues for a different Haiti," declared Fritz Alphonse Jean.

Frinel Joseph, Observer Advisor to the CPT, stated following these ratifications : "I would like to express my deepest gratitude to each of the Presidential Advisors.

By adopting the Penal Code, the Code of Criminal Procedure, and the referendum decree at today's Council of Ministers, they demonstrated a high spirit and a rare exemplary sense of duty. This solemn gesture will remain etched in the annals of our Nation. Through this act of great responsibility, they averted the specter of moral decline that threatened our society and enabled the democratic process to continue its noble path.

Their unanimous participation in this Council of Ministers is a shining example that, when the grandeur of the mission transcends particular interests, the Nation can rise above divisions and inscribe its destiny in history with dignity and honor.

I thank them for having listened, as I humbly requested, to the voice of wisdom.
