Initiated by the Ministry for the Status of Women and Women's Rights (MCFDF) in collaboration with the United Nations Agency for Sexual and Reproductive Health (UNFPA) in the city of Les Cayes, a training and awareness-raising workshop for 100 men from all municipalities in the South Department concluded last week, leading to the creation of a Network of Men Engaged in the Fight Against Women's Rights Violations (RHE-VDF).

This network is made up of boys over 18 and men, local stakeholders (community leaders, decentralized authorities, mayors, ASEC, CASEC), lawyers, doctors, religious and traditional leaders, engineers, psychologists...

This initiative aims to empower men in the fight for respect for women's rights, at a time when violence against women is reaching its peak in the country. This group of men is committed to raising awareness and raising awareness among people in their communities about the issue of women's rights violations, particularly violence against women and girls. This preventative approach will enable the community to better understand the issue of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and potentially change behaviors.

At the end of their training, the participants discussed the various topics covered. They took the opportunity to formulate proposals and recommendations for strategies aimed at protecting women and girls from all forms of violence and addressing persistent gender inequalities.

The training and awareness-raising workshop concluded with the reading of the Network's terms of reference, focusing particularly on its administrative structure, role, and responsibilities. Finally, an internal charter and a roadmap for the proper functioning of the network were also presented for the benefit of all involved men in the South Department.
