Haiti - Education : Preliminary investigation report on schools and families of students affected by insecurity

The National Education Fund (FNE) has just published the preliminary report resulting from the in-depth survey conducted as part of the School and Family Support Project (PAEF of students affected by insecurity. This strategic document presents the key findings obtained from relocated schools and displaced families, as well as the main challenges encountered during the operation.

Objectives and Context :

The survey, conducted from May 12 to 16, 2025, aims to provide precise insight into the consequences of the security crisis on schools and affected households, particularly in the West, Center, and Artibonite departments.

Key Figures :

• 6,244 families were surveyed, with a participation rate of 99.49%;

• 422 schools participated, with a participation rate of 98.37%; • 38.41% of children surveyed are out of school, primarily due to a lack of financial resources;

• 94.12% of displaced families have lost their main source of income.

Key Findings :

• Extremely precarious housing conditions (9.40% in precarious shelters).

• Severe lack of humanitarian aid (97.73% of families received no aid).

• Increased vulnerability of displaced schools (92.89% without subsidies, 81.04% without cafeterias).

Recommendations :

The report offers concrete recommendations to strengthen strategic planning, improve logistical conditions, further promote the value of surveyors, and enhance the credibility of future operations.
