28 Neighborhoods in the Hands of Bandits

The Center for Analysis and Research in Human Rights (CARDH) reveals in a report that in the space of four years, 28 neighborhoods, including 25 in the Ouest department, have fallen into the hands of armed gangs; more than a hundred public institutions and 600 private structures have been relocated, looted, and/or burned.

Justice : Trump's Decision on TPS

On Wednesday, June 4th, 2025, Brian Cogan, the federal judge for the Eastern District of New York, will examine the case pitting several Haitian associations and unions against the Trump administration over the controversial decision to prematurely terminate Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for more than 500,000 Haitians legally residing under this status in the United States.

The dismissal of priests Désiré and Cole overturned

On Monday, June 2nd, 2025, the Port-au-Prince Court of Appeal overturned the dismissal order issued in 2023 by Judge Marthel Jean Claude in favor of priests Frantz Désiré and Frantz Cole https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-40654-haiti-episcopal-church-the-investigating-judge-issued-his-order-in-the-arms-and-ammunition-trafficking-case.html . The two clergymen, along with 15 other co-defendants, were being prosecuted in connection with the illegal trafficking of arms and ammunition, carried out under the cover of the Episcopal Church of Haiti's customs clearance. The decision of the appeals court magistrates follows the discovery of serious irregularities in the investigation of the case. The case has been transferred to investigating judge Noé Massillon Pierre. Violence in the Centre Department (Report):

All unidentified Mon Cash accounts suspended

All unidentified Mon Cash accounts have been suspended since May 31, 2025. Digicel confirmed this measure in a press release published on Monday, June 2nd. Proof of identity is now required to use the service. This decision meets the requirements of the Bank of the Republic of Haiti. Only identified customers can now carry out transactions, including deposits, and access their funds.
