BSAP Agent Arrested

Police in the Southeast Department arrested Jean Louis Rochkama, an agent of the Protected Areas Security Brigade (BSAP), following an incident in the commune of Les Cayes-Jacmel where he fired a 12-gauge shotgun, injuring seven people, during a parade organized by the Center for Classical Studies of Reference. Jean Louis Rochkama was taken into custody pending further legal action.

Kamikaze Drones : 25 Dead, 40 Injured

On Tuesday, May 20, kamikaze drone strikes in Gran Ravin reportedly left at least 25 bandits dead and 40 injured. The operation targeted the stronghold of the "Ti Lapli" gang leader, according to Pierre Espérance, Executive Director of the National Human Rights Defense Network (RNDDH). The injured were taken to the hospital in the Carrefour commune of Diquini. Pierre Espérance supports the use of drones, which he believes are effective against armed groups.

Delivery of 2.5 tons of medical supplies

In response to urgent healthcare needs, the Pan American Health Organization and the World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO) delivered nearly 2.5 tons of medicines and emergency medical supplies to Justinien University Hospital in Cap-Haïtien and La Providence Hospital in Gonaïves. This support aims to strengthen patient care capacity in the context of a health and humanitarian crisis.

Work on National Highway 3

The Ministry of Public Works has undertaken a rehabilitation project on Fort Saint-Michel Road, which leads to the Airport intersection in the city of Cap-Haitien on National Highway 3 (RN3). The work will include roadway rehabilitation and drainage improvements.

Cap-Haitien : 32 investigators trained on sexual violence

The Human Rights Section of the United Nations Integrated Office in Haiti (BINUH) continues to support the Haitian National Police (PNH) in its efforts to prevent gender-based violence. Thanks to support from the Canadian government, 32 investigators (including 16 women) were trained in sexual violence investigation techniques in Cap-Haitien and deployed to the Great North.
