Memorandum of Understanding between Kenya and the Dominican Republic

Kenya's Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Musalia Mudavadi, currently visiting the United States, will travel to the Dominican Republic from May 11 to 13. During his visit, he will sign Memorandum of Understanding on medical evacuation, repatriation of the wounded and deceased, and access to Dominican territory for Kenyan members of the Multinational Security Support Mission in Haiti (MMSS).

3 Haitian Immigration Officials Arrested

Contraband

76,000 contraband cigarettes seized :

A Dominican army patrol intercepted a van on the Mao-Santiago Rodriguez highway. During an inspection of the vehicle, soldiers discovered a hidden compartment under the bed containing 380 cartons of Capital brand cigarettes, smuggled from Haiti. The cigarettes were packaged in cartons of 10 packs of 20 cigarettes each. The Dominican occupants of the vehicle, Franklin Miguel Rosa Tejada and Miguel Ángel Cruz Rodriguez, were arrested and taken into custody.
