Haiti - Politic : Organization of the referendum and elections

On Friday, May 9, 2025, Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé chaired a high-level working session with, among others, Ms. Pédrica Saint-Jean, Minister for the Status of Women; Ms. Niola Lynn Sarah Devalis Octavius, Minister of Youth, Sports, and Civic Action; Joseph André Gracien Jean, Minister for Electoral and Constitutional Affairs; and representatives of UN Women and UNESCO.

This working session was part of concerted efforts to provide the country with a new constitution through the upcoming organization of a national referendum and to ensure the holding of free, inclusive, and democratic elections. The discussions underscored the importance of involving all segments of society, including women, youth, civil society organizations, and international partners, in this crucial process for rebuilding the state and restoring public trust.

The Prime Minister reaffirmed the Government's commitment to fostering a climate of stability and security, essential conditions for the success of the electoral process. He also emphasized the importance of collective mobilization to address the country's major challenges, including insecurity, institutional weakening, and social fragmentation.
