Haiti - FLASH : Dissolution of the National Commission for Disarmament, Dismantling and Reintegration

In an official statement published on Friday, May 2nd, 2025, the Presidential Transitional Council (CPT) announced the adoption of a resolution to dissolve the National Commission for Disarmament, Dismantling, and Reintegration (CNDDR).

This decision follows a widespread loss of confidence in the CNDDR, with several of its members facing serious accusations calling into question their impartiality and integrity.

The CPT emphasizes the importance of establishing a new disarmament structure that is beyond suspicion and capable of effectively addressing current security challenges. To this end, consultations will be conducted with relevant sectors, including civil society organizations and prominent figures in national life.

Should be noted that this decision comes three days after the Council of Ministers, with a view to ensuring the proper functioning of the Commission, decided to amend the provisions revitalizing and reforming the CNDDR by adding two more members, bringing the Commission to nine members, which was clearly not considered sufficient.
