CSPJ Denial

The Superior Council of the Judiciary (CSPJ) confirmed on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, that its President, Jean Joseph Lebrun, is currently traveling, but denied false reports suggesting he had resigned, stating that he is currently abroad for medical reasons, and his return is expected as soon as possible, the CSPJ stated in a press release dated April 29, 2025. Anti-gang fight : Haiti does not rule out using international private firms

Alfred Métellus, the Minister of Economy and Finance, indicated that the Haitian government has not ruled out using international private firms to deal with gang violence. "All possibilities are supposed to be on the table [...] We are open, we are looking for all Haitians, all foreigners who have expertise in this field and who want to support us, want to support the police and the army to resolve the situation [...]"

Shipwreck : 2 dead, 19 survivors

On Monday, April 28, 2025, the boat "Kalota," carrying 21 passengers, sank under unexplained circumstances on the east coast of the town of Fort-Liberté, near the Dérac municipal district. Marjorie Michel maintains her Liberal stronghold in Papineau on the Island of Montreal. The Haitian-born candidate, daughter of former Haitian Prime Minister Smarck Michel, replaces Justin Trudeau in the Papineau riding. She has extensive experience in Canadian politics, having served as Chief of Staff to the Minister of Families, Children and Social Development, and then Deputy Chief of Staff in the office of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, becoming the first Black person to hold this position. She has played a central role in Canadian policy on issues related to Haiti.
