Haiti - FLASH : Security Alert from the United States Embassy in Haiti

On Sunday April 13, 2025, the American Embassy in Port-au-Prince, due to increased violence and insecurity, as well as threats and attacks against law enforcement and prisons, issued a security alert for American citizens.

Areas concerned :

Southern Coastal Zone including Tiburon, Les Anglais, and Les Cayes.

Centre Department, including Mirebalais, and Saut-d’Eau.

Artibonite Department including Saint-Marc, Petite-Riviere-de-l’Artibonite, and Saviens.

Advice and precautionary measures to take :

• Avoid the areas.

• Do not travel to Haiti.

• Depart Haiti as soon as possible when commercial options are available if you feel safe to do so.

• Avoid crowds.

• Use extreme caution in areas where you are not known to local residents.

• Monitor local media for updates and avoid areas where violence, demonstrations, or disruptions are reported.

• Keep a low profile.

• Be aware of your surroundings.

• Be prepared to shelter in place for an extended time period.

• Avoid being outside after dark.

• Stay alert in areas frequented by foreign visitors.
