Haiti - Politic : Advisor Smith Augustin on official mission to Washington D.C. and New York.

As part of the strengthening of international cooperation efforts for the restoration of security and the preparation of the next elections in Haiti, Presidential Advisor Smith Augustin is on an official mission to Washington D.C. and New York.

At the United Nations (UN), he will intensify advocacy for the mobilization of $900 million, essential for the full and effective deployment of 2,500 troops as part of the Multinational Security Support Mission (MMSS).

With Albert Ramdin, the new Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), he will discuss the need to mobilize member states around the technical support requested, both in terms of security and logistics.

Smith Augustin will also meet with the Inter-American Defense Board on the implementation of a comprehensive military training program designed to strengthen the operational capabilities of the Haitian Armed Forces (FAd'H).

He will also participate in working sessions with representatives of the Haitian diaspora in Washington and New York, focusing on their participation in the upcoming elections and their gradual and systematic integration into the Haitian political system.
