Haiti - Technology : Rehabilitation of the Tiburon photovoltaic power plant
The Ministry of Public Works, in collaboration with its strategic partners, held an online meeting regarding the launch of the rehabilitation of the Tiburon photovoltaic power plant.

Shut down following a fire that destroyed part of its production infrastructure, the plant, with an initial capacity of 95 kWp, will be restored to 61.64 kWp, its storage system will be modernized with lithium batteries, and fire prevention systems will be added.

Funded by the World Bank through the Scaling-up Renewable Energy Program (SREP), this rehabilitation is part of the Government's commitment to providing clean, reliable, and sustainable energy to the populations of the South.

This meeting aimed to take stock of the implementation of this project and to define the next steps to ensure its smooth implementation.

Project Phases :
- Finalization of the rehabilitation plan : March 24, 2025;
- Start of work : April 29, 2025;
- Commissioning : May 27, 2025;
- Project closure and final report of the Environmental Management Plan (ESMP) : September 1st, 2025.

The meeting highlighted the importance of environmental and social measures in the ESMP, including fire prevention, waste management, and worker safety. The National Energy Regulatory Authority (ANARSE) emphasized the importance of meeting deadlines and effective collaboration between stakeholders and reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring compliance with standards and promoting competition and private investment in the energy sector.
